The eagles have landed & are builing a nest

Slipping out of Santiago in the middle of the night,

Our bags have a reproductive cycle of their own and we were now up to 7...

We haven't taken up hang gliding yet and we hope our bus doesn't either...

next stop, last stop, Montevideo-Uruguay...

when we crossed the border on waking up from another overnighter we saw our new pais...

a river is a border and we crossed it into another place, another time....

where buildings like Placio Salvo used to be the tallest in South America...

but recycling is still done the old fashion way...with daily pickups...

where people take a break from work in the afternoon and go sit in the shade and relax....

or I try yet another new kind of beer...remember! never drink the water...unless your name's Jo!

where Bar-B-Qing meat is done on an industrial scale and vegetables are against the religion....

but, when you do want fruit and veggies you can get them at specialty shops...

Where a Sunday morning stroll takes you through deserted pocket parks...

to see painters walking on the moon...

and everyone else laying on the city beaches...

and there are plenty of them along the 19 miles of boardwalk reserved for walkers and bikers...

some sections named after people like Mr. Peace from India instead of General War...

or if sunbathing isn't your thing you can always go fishing...

or dive off the public infinity pool...

while laying around watching giant cargo containers pulling into port...

It was 90 degrees today on our walk and I got sunburned. That hurts more than shoveling snow.
