All to often, I start off with my happy snappy pictures; but you're in for a treat now because I'm beginning with Joella's images this time.
All roofs on the beach are thatched with palm fronds and this is the top of our hotel's restaurant as seen from our room's terrace.
And rocks don't have to be boulders to get her attention either, nor do
birds have to be fast moving. Only a willingness to pose is required.
This baby pelican has a different story though. Double click the picture and enlarge it for a better look. The poor little guy was trying to eat a needle fish that was as big as he was and he got his tongue pierced. Well, there was no swallowing the dinner now and he was dying of exhaustion from having spent all day trying to shake it loose.

So, cue the trumpets, super heroines to all creatures great and small, Joella and niece Corinne came to the rescue. One threw her jacket over the bird's head to calm it and then the other slowly, carefully separated the two creatures from one another. He swam away to eat other fish another day.
O.K. now here are my dorky pictures.
Our terrace...
our reading room...
and our niece.
And here I am doing the sacred saving a pelican dance while God's angels were extracting the needle fish, but I like to think my positive vibes helped in some way.
Lastly, this is one of the fishing boats that is used by the locals and that in an earlier photo of Jo's had a fisherman standing on while he cast his net.
O.K. that's it for now. I'm just trying to catch up on entries that happened in the past. Later!!!
...serendipitous encounter for the bird. We have just begun our holidays too and I'm basking in the sun on a beach, cyber-vicariously...
